Growing up as a kid, something that always stays with you is the sound of the ice cream van coming onto your street or your favourite ice cream you kept getting over and over again, whatever it is, ice cream will always be a huge part of being a kid.
Picture this, it’s a warm summers day and the sun is shining and you can hear the sound of your local ice cream van coming round the corner and you are struggling to contain your excitement, asking your mum or dad for some money whilst rushing to put some shoes on encase you miss it and everyone has at least once occasionally gone out barefoot just to not miss an ice cream!. But its not always about what you are eating, going for an ice cream as a kid makes you socialise with other kids and helps you gain the manners you use today like please and thank you, you don’t realise it now but an ice cream van can bring people together, build connections not just with the driver of the ice cream van but your friends or whoever lives on your street and it definitely has to be up there on the childhood nostalgia list.
Ice Cream Vans
Ice Cream Vans are all different and have different songs they play as they come onto your street but if you think about it hard enough you can bring back the memories of what yours used to sound like and what it looked like or even who ran the ice cream van, maybe they are still doing it now! It might even be the same business or ice cream van! Who knows, but they are all remembered in different ways, different funny or embarrassing stories about eating ice cream as a kid is what makes it so special, dropping the ice cream or getting it all round your face and hands (Me included), stories that can be remembered for years and years.
Every kid has their favourite ice cream, if you are a 99 with a flake lover, Bubble-gum lollypops that turn your tongue blue or screwball ice cream with a surprise at the bottom, whatever it is, we all had a favourite, mine was a Chocolate sundae, I just couldn’t get enough of the ice cream and topping sauce combination, I used to love my sauce on ice cream so much I asked for double the amount!
