A Day in The Life of a Social Media Apprentice

Front of Takeaway Supplies

Everyone’s goal in life is to have a job they love doing with great people to work with. thankfully, I have both.

No day is the same here but atypical day would start with a round of brews for me and my colleagues and checking and orders that may have come in on all our sales platforms, I will check them all that they are up to scratch and respond to any enquiries we may have. Any Phone calls that come in I will also take any enquiries and pass them onto my colleagues if they are needed by the caller or if I can help them I would do my best for the customer.

Josh EllingworthI will then spend an hour or so changing prices of our products across our sales platforms and adding new ones, so we are ready for when the season starts and all the prices we have shown to our customers are right and up to date with any pictures that are needed to make them look attractive and professional.

I have learned a lot from working here, not just on the computer, hands on stuff too such as pallet trucks, getting orders ready and wrapping pallets ready to send out in which sometimes you don’t think about what skills you learn from someone can help you in life in the future, for example using a pallet truck can help someone learn to drive as you need to use your angles to make manoeuvres and getting orders ready can get you learning the products you sell and it can also help your memory and organising on the pallet, Heavy stuff on the bottom light on top etc.

Building my Marketing skills

View of warehouseAfter My Dinner, I would then start focusing on our customer database, adding or updating records of any new customers given to me in a list of who have just started buying or have had any samples sent and have product catalogues or leaflets and business cards through the post by printing off labels using one of the tools on the database, I think its important to have a customer database as you can keep note of what they have enquired or any products you have sent and what prices you have given them.

The Afternoon would be gathering orders together that need to be sent on pallets. I would pack them together professionally, it’s a bit like playing Tetris, making everything fit and making sure nothing gets damaged so the customer is satisfied as we want them to keep ordering with us. They will then we wrapped tight to make sure nothing moves out of place when it is loaded to be sent out to the customer. I will then load our courier with the smaller orders that have been placed on eBay or Amazon etc. for them to be on their way to the customer. I would end the day by finishing anything that needs finishing on the computer and lock up.

my deskI would recommend a marketing apprenticeship to anyone, you learn things you never thought you would before and if you already knew something about marketing you would almost certainly expand on what you already know. I have been very lucky as I work with such a close family who are some of the nicest people I have ever met and I look forward to a bright future working with them and they are a pleasure to work for.
